ART by Estelle Graf

At Running Is Dead we’ve been big fans of a young artist named Estelle Graf for quite a while now and some of her stuff adorns the walls of our homes. She captures typical Stockholm locations where she places animals posing as humans.

People who are familiar with the works of the American writer Orson Welles will most likely see elements from his work “Animal Farm” in her art even though the way she expresses herself and her humor rings more of Franz Kafka’s surrealism. Examples of this can be found in a book entitled “Tryckt stämning” (a typically Swedish expression which can loosely be translated into “Feeling awkward”) which she published with her friend Madelen Möllgard with the intention of making a satirical depiction of the inner dialogues we have with ourselves.

For Running Is Dead she has created a very special artwork where she has placed one of her characters in a context most Stockholm based runners will be familiar with: The blue gate at Djurgården. The art is available on our new Art Tee “Estelle” as of now at these locations:
